Parallels For Mac Resolution

Mac

Installing Windows, frankly, couldn’t be easier, and being able to run multiple virtualized software instances via Picture-in-Picture is a very nice feature to have. Some may have rightly questioned my decision to, but such a choice pays off when running more than one virtual machine. In that case, the more RAM the better, since you must individually assign each instance with resources from your overall system pool.

Yes, now in Parallels Desktop for Mac version 12. This new version released 2016-08 is the first to support Retina resolution within a macOS VM. I have no problem switching to full screen mode, but it still scales the same 1024x768 resolution of my OSX 10.9 VM in Parallels. I also have experience with running Windows on Parallels and having the resolution magically adjust to the Parallels window size.

Note: Windows is purchased separately. General enhancements •Attach screenshots and other files to technical data reports. •Resolves an issue with sound not playing in virtual machines after closing and then opening the MacBook’s lid. •Resolves an issue with screen refresh rate becoming low when a virtual machine is started with the “Always ready in background” option selected.

I don’t use Windows daily, so it every time I launch Parallels Desktop, performance is degraded as updates start installing in the background. The new Maintenance option allows such tasks to be blocked until the scheduled time, such as a weekend when my iMac isn’t in use. (VMs must be open at the time.) PD12 includes one year of free online storage (500GB) from Acronis, which can be used to back up your virtual machines. Desktop 12 also makes using Windows on the Mac more seamless. Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents in Safari can be configured to open in their respective desktop Office 365 applications, and passwords entered in Internet Explorer or Microsoft Edge can now be saved in your Mac keychain. Parallels Desktop 12 includes a one-year subscription to online cloud backup service Acronis for safely backing up virtual machines up to 500GB in size.

When Windows is suspended with Parallels still open I have nearly 11 GIGs free. Boot Camp no longer necessary.

Working OK now I reinstalled Parallels and loaded W2K. This time the option of installing Parallels Tools was active (no idea why it wasn't before). Set up react project.

'Along with the existing network speed and packet loss simulator, a new Network Latency Simulator will further enable developers to run tests and simulate a specific network environment, including distance and network quality, to test application resiliency,' VMware said.
